What Are Toothpaste Tablets?
Put simply, they’re toothpaste minus the water. Chewable toothpaste! Toothpaste in a tube contains up to 40% water. Solid toothpaste tablets magically transform into toothpaste as soon as you pop it in your mouth and start chewing. You can then use either your electric or manual toothbrush to clean your teeth as usual.
The benefits? No more toothpaste tubes, no worrying if you’ve used the right amount of paste, and no mess. We believe there’s a zero waste toothpaste out there to suit everyone. That’s why we also make toothpaste in a glass jar and toothpaste powder alongside our toothpaste tabs.
You might be asking – what’s so bad about toothpaste in a tube? Well…
16 million toothpaste tubes are sent to New Zealand landfills each year
You can’t recycle them efficiently. Along with various other forms of single use plastic waste, they end up in our oceans and washed up on our beaches, where they can negatively impact birds, animals and sea life.
We always knew we didn’t want to put our toothpaste in plastic, even though it’s by far the easiest and cheapest option.
Instead, we’ve packaged our toothpaste in a glass jar that you can return to us for sterilising and refilling. We’re always working on better ways to keep teeth clean and healthy, while also being mindful of our impact on the planet.
Are toothpaste tablets as good for my teeth as regular toothpaste?
Yes! You can read more about what ingredients are in toothpaste here. All our toothpaste tablets, toothpaste powder and jarred toothpaste contain 1000ppm fluoride. This is one of our non negotiable values. You can read more about our decision here.
